Activated international roaming before leaving India. I was able to make calls using the Indian Sim during the initial days until the international roaming pack is valid. After the initial validity expires, recharge for Rs. 1559 (336 days). This comes to around Rs.140 per month. This is less than $2 per month. Also, after the initial validity of international roaming expires, even though you recharge for yearly plan, you will need to top up to make calls / receive calls /send sms. I have topped up for Rs. 40. I have been making a call or sms once every couple of months just to be safe. When ever the top up balance drops below 20, I top up more.
