One card you need - Curve
If you have multiple cards, even if linked to apple pay or Google pay, but have difficulty managing them and optimizing them for rewards or cash back, you might want to check out Curve. Don't forget to read about the major issue described under Cons section.
What is Curve?
Single card that can be linked to multiple cards and can use the single card for all your purchases. Different cards could be used in the backend.
Note:
- This requires a credit pull as it includes applying for a credit card
- Visa and American Express credit cards may not yet be supported
Pros:
- Easy to manage all cards in one place
- Add rules to chose the right card based on category automatically.
- Additional 1% cash back for first 6 months
- Additional 1% cash back for certain merchants, you chose
- No embarrassment feature - if the default card doesn't work, another card can be used.
- Go back in time - if you selected wrong card either by mistake or due to insufficient limit or for any reason and you wished you used different card, you can go back and change the card after purchase. Curve does a credit on the first card and charges the second card. This can be done once for each transaction. This is my favorite feature.
- You can provide one card number to merchants and change the actual card used to pay at any time without needing to change in multiple places.
- Ability to lock the card from the app.
- See list of transactions - all transactions or grouped by category or grouped by card.
- Ability to use debit card, where only credit card is accepted by using it behind Curve.
The merchant category is forwarded (Not always) to your linked card, so you continue to get the same benefits on the linked cards.
Cons:
- The merchant code/category may not be forwarded correctly (this behavior was seen in US) and you may end up losing the rewards/cash-back on the linked card.
Sign up using my referral link and I can get one additional month of cash back.
