Earthquake in San Francisco in the near future
There has been a lot of talks on the possibility of earth quake in the bay area. I April, scientists calculated that there is a 63 percent chance a magnitute 6.7 or greater quake will hit on a bay area in the next 30 years. The last major earth quake: October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Magnitute: 7.1 Worst since 1906 Killed: 62 Injured: 3757 Homeless: more than 12000 Damage: 3 billion dollars It took 3 days to fully restore power What precautions or steps have the residents of california taken to face this? Currently there are systems which can provide 10-20 second warning. How well can this prevent deaths and help people to be safe?
